By car:
- You will arrive on the island via the Pedro Ivo Campos bridge. At the end of the bridge keep right and follow the road as it loops back round under both bridges (Pedro Ivo Campos and Colombo Salles) and turn left at the first traffic lights soon after passing under the second bridge. This is the Av. Beira Mar Norte bayside highway, which will take you beneath the Hercílio Luz suspension bridge, currently under renovation. There are speed cameras mounted on some of the traffic lights along this road.
- You will follow this road for about 5 km (3 miles), passing the state Governor’s house and the Federal Police regional headquarters, both on the right. As you pass Angeloni supermarket, also on the right, look for signs for NORTE (the North) which will guide you into one of the two right-hand lanes and over the Wilson Kleinubing flyover onto the SC-401 highway. This divides in two soon after the flyover, keep left and follow the road for NORTE, which is still the SC-401.
- After about 11 km (7 miles) you will arrive at an unmanned toll gate, but this is no longer active and you will not have to stop or pay. About 2 km (1½ miles) after this you will pass a turning for Jurerê Internacional, carry straight on North, following the signs for CANASVIEIRAS.
- Around 5 km (3 miles) later you will pass a large glass structure on the right (Ilha Shopping). You should go straight on past the glass building and under an overpass, following the sign for CANASVIERAS. After 2 km (1½ miles) you will reach a mini roundabout, take the right turn in direction of BOM JESUS DA CACHOEIRA, LAGOINHA and PONTA DAS CANAS. If you reach the beach at Canasvieras you have missed this turning, but don’t worry, you’ve only passed it by 2 blocks.
- From here, it’s approximately 7 km (4 miles) to the Hotel Costa Norte Ponta das Canas along the AVENIDA LUIZ BOITEUX PIAZZA, which leads to the beaches of Cachoeira do Bom Jesus, PONTA DAS CANAS, Praia da Lagoinha and Praia Brava.
- When you pass the HOTEL CHALÉ PONTAS DAS CANAS, the sign for HOTEL COSTA NORTE is 50 meters further on. However, you cannot take the first road on the left as it is one-way, so take the second left, follow it to the end and take another left. The Hotel Costa Norte will now be 200 meters in front, on the right.
